20 Posts on Artemis!

One of my goals is to post much more regularly on my other blog, If I Were Artemis... because to build an audience you just need to keep cranking out the posts. That's why I have a goal of creating 20 posts a month. Hopefully I can keep it up!

Goal = Accomplished for the month of September!

If you look, you shall see that September and August both have 20. Two months in a row! I think I can, I think I can...

Mind: Read 10,000 Pages

I'm almost through reading A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (excellent) and I just finished writing the review of the other book I've read this month, And Then There's This (that's right, I'm behind! Shhhhh!).

If you care to read my review of this super interesting nonfiction book about the viral culture and how it has replaced our reality, head over to Blog #2 for the Review!

I've also been working on the other goals too, more to come soon! I just got back from an out of town wedding and am getting back to business with this whole blog thing ;)

Congratulations Courtney and TJ!!!!!

Mind: Expand and Improve my Wardrobe

If you direct your attention to the Mind Goals listed below, you shall see the word "Killerrrr" written out to the side of Expand and Improve my Wardrobe.

Shall I explain? Yes. Yes, I shall. Killerrr just means I want my style to grow and mature as I have. I want to wear pieces that make me feel confidant. If those pieces happen to be black and leather then so be it ;) But it would be stupid for me to keep talking about how much I love shopping and buying new clothes. Let me quote someone who knows what they're talking about...

"Halston, Lagerfeld, de la Renta. And what they did, what they created was greater than art because you live your life in it."
- Nigel, from The Devil Wears Prada

Amen, Nigel.

Here are just a few items I have purchased recently that I'm feeling good about!

The pants too!

If you want to see more of my style or the fashion that interests me, head over to If I Were Artemis...

The Necklace too!

New hair too, that's always fun!
There's more but I haven't taken pictures of it yet! I'll get on that :)

Let me just encourage you to listen to Stacey and Clinton from What Not to Wear. They're always saying that "when you look good, you feel good!" and I have found that to be incredibly true.

Soul: Don't Neglect Mama Deavs!

I realize that if you're just tuning in you probably don't know what's going on here! So I thought I'd give you a little recap.

In my high school days I was incredibly active in the Kennesaw Mountain High School Theater Department (11 shows!) and that became my home. For years the department consisted of the Trinity: Mrs. Debbie Walker, Cobb County's High School Teacher of the Year Coy Dunn and Mr. Edward Deavers. On February 12th of my Junior year, we got hit with the news that our beloved theatre teacher, director, mentor and friend Edward Deavers passed away of a massive heart attack in his home.

While the community, students and alumni grieved, none were hit as hard as his beloved mother, Mrs. Dorothy Deavers, who shared a home with him and was his best friend. I vowed that this year I would make her an invaluable part of my life. Knowing her has blessed me in ways I cannot even begin to describe! She is such a gift to me.

I've been calling her as often as I can, because she lives pretty far away, but lately I've been able to visit about twice a month! The ladies below (the self-proclaimed "Most Interesting Women in the World") have gone to see movies, gone out to eat and spent amazing quality time with each other. Three generations are represented here, and yes... I love hanging out with them!

"The Most Interesting Women in the World"
My mother, Cathy, Mrs. Dorothy Deavers, "Aunt" Elizabeth, Mrs. Kim, Mrs. Robbin and myself!
Looking at old photos.
If you know Mrs. Deavers, I encourage you to give her a call or plan a visit. If you need her information send me an email. She would love to hear from you or spend some time with you. Also, if you would like to donate to the Edward Deavers Memorial Scholarship fund let me know through email and I will get you in touch with the right people.

Just remember that no one deserves to be lonely.
If you see a need in your own life, do what you can when you can to fill it.
If that means making time for a phonecall, a letter, an anonymous act of kindness, a donation, a visit, just do it. What've you got to lose?
And trust me, you have a whole lot to gain.

Goodnight,
~ Anna

Yessss.

All thanks to my second mother who hooked me up :)
I am still getting used to it of course and I don't have a mouse yet so I'm just doing the best I can at the moment! I am so happy though! I feel that now I can start to really get things accomplished.

Speaking of getting things accomplished, I'm planning something big. I probably should not talk about this so soon because nothing is ever set in stone, but I'm incredibly excited right now!!!!  Here's a little hint.

Want another hint? When I'm done it will end in a .com!
Ohhhh yes my friends, you are thinking correctly!

Have an amazing Labor Day everyone! Spend quality time with your families and appreciate each other. Don't forget to search for the beauty in the world!

September Goals

Here are my September goals! Let's hope I can stay focused and get some things done. (0f course I am still leaving room for fun and relaxation!)

Is there anything in particular you would like to accomplish this month? Lists and agendas are a great way to visualize what you need to do and you won't forget in a few days. I made these goals my desktop background so this month I will always be reminded of what I need/want to get done!

To all the students out there, good luck with your school year! I'm sure things are really going to start picking up now. Can't wait for it to get a little cooler so we all can breathe easier. Fall will be in the air soon!

August Goals: Recap

Dear 2 Followers (helloooo dahhhlings) and Random Other People,

The time has come for the monthly recap. It is really hard for me to believe that I just completed my first August as a person, not a student. I am not a student anymore. It feels a little too good, to be honest! Although it is not for everyone, this gap year certainly was the right decision for me!

Before I talk about what I accomplished, let's take another look at what I planned on getting done...

How did that work out for me? Here's the breakdown:

READ AT LEAST 4 BOOKS

These four made for a total of 784 pages read this month. If I can read this amount or a little more a month I should hit 10,000 pages by next August!

All four books were wildly different in content but all special in their own ways! Also, I am loving how aesthetically pleasing those four covers are together. Very nice...

GET COOL SKETCHBOOKS
20 POSTS ON ARTEMIS

If you will direct your attention to the bottom left of the picture (try not to be distracted by Anja and Freja), you will see how many blog posts I posted to Artemis for the month of August. 20. Boom

Can I just say, that was hard to do? It's so easy just to go to bed when you're tired and not worry about it, or to get caught up in the millions of other things you have to do a day. I have found/been told/read that if you want any semblance of a steady following you have to just crank out the posts. You have to constantly provide new information or people get bored. If you care to read any of them, head on over!

SAVE AT LEAST $400.00

I also made the most bombinest Excel spreadsheet that allows me to track my monthly expenses, income and how much I have saved. I really am going to try not to be a broke college student!

If you have not set up a monthly budget I strongly urge you to do so! Especially if you are like me and love to spend $5 here and $10 there. You really see how everything adds up! It's never too late or too early to start healthy financial habits.

"If your outgo exceeds your income, your upkeep will be your downfall"

So how did everything work out in the long run?
*drumroll please*

Not. Too. Hot.
bummer

I am going to have to get much better at this. My September goals will be posted tomorrow (and by tomorrow I mean in about ten hours from now). This really motivates me to do better. No one wants to be 33% successful. Let's hope this sentiment lasts!

In other awesome and totally unrelated news, made it onto Nylon Tv, woot woot! See the blonde fauxhawk? Yup. Shout out to Laura (glasses, on the left) who is my concert buddy!
